Canadian Drumline Association Classification

The Canadian Drumline Association will begin 2014 with several new exciting features designed to streamline its judging and classification system while encouraging growth throughout the activity. The CDA will be hosting drumline competitions this
year in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta.

Competing drumlines can perform in one of four classifications:

Concert Class

Intermediate Class

Premier Class

Alumni Class

Concert class is for standstill drumlines that demonstrate beginning percussive skills while engaging the audience in an entertaining way. Intermediate class is for drumlines that are just beginning to march while demonstrating intermediate percussive skills. Premier class is for progressive drumlines with several years of marching experience, who demonstrate a diversity of concepts and advanced percussive skills. All performers in Concert, Intermediate, and Premier class must be enrolled in secondary school education or lower. Ensembles in the Alumni class have no age limit and will be adjudicated with the same criteria as Premier class.

Next week we will discuss our new adjudication system.
